Getting on and off the floor from a standing position using a chair ('ADL' Floor to stand transfer - with support, from standing)

To complete the remainder of the stretching exercises you will need to move down onto the floor and then get back up afterward.
This exercise will show you how to move down onto the floor and then return back upright to a standing position in a safe manner.
Stand upright facing the seat of the chair.
Place your hands on the side of the chair and lower the knee closest to the edge of the chair carefully down to the floor, all the time using the edge of the chair for support.
Lower your other leg down so that your knee is on the floor and you are now kneeling facing the chair.
One at a time, bring your hands down to the floor on one side, then use them to lower yourself down so that you are sitting on the floor with your legs out beside you.
Finally, straighten your legs out in front of you, and use your arms to lower yourself down to lie on your side, and then roll onto your back.
To return back up from this position, roll over onto your side.
Push yourself up onto hands and knees, and move over to the chair if it is not already nearby.
Place your hands on the chair, then put one foot flat on the floor with the leg close to you.
Lean forward over this knee and push through your hands and feet.
As you begin to lift, bring the other foot in behind you until you can push yourself up to turn and sit on the chair.
