Isometric hip abduction in side lying - from mid position (Hip abduction strengthening isometric, side lying, up on bent arm - from mid position)

Lie on your side with your affected leg on top of a step.
Bend your bottom leg for stability but keep your top leg straight and in line with your body.
Begin to lift the top leg up until you feel the muscles on the side of your hip contract.
Make sure you do not roll your body forward or backward.
Hold this position, and then relax and repeat.
