Walking up stairs:
Stand at the bottom of the stairs.
If there is a rail, hold onto it with one hand.
Bring your unaffected leg onto the first step.
Next, take your affected leg onto the same step.
Repeat this pattern bringing both legs onto every step until you get to the top.
Walking downstairs:
Stand at the top of the stairs.
If there is a rail hold onto it with one hand.
Step your affected leg down onto the first step.
Now take your unaffected leg onto the same step.
Repeat this pattern bringing both legs on the every step until you get to the bottom.
